In 2007, Barbara assembled a quintet consisting of some of the finest musicians in the Midwest and entered the studio to record her latest CD “Angel Eyes”. This CD features Barbara on vocals, Russell Schmidt on piano, Dave Morgan on bass, Jim Rupp on drums, and Jack Schantz on flugelhorn, as well as guest artists Howie Smith on saxophone and Ron Busch on vibes.
“Angel Eyes” indicates a new direction for Barbara. The small-band setting lets her perform with an intimacy impossible to achieve in front of a big band. You’ll hear her sing like you’ve never heard her before, with fresh arrangements by bassist Dave Morgan, two originals by band members with new lyrics by Barbara, and amazing duets with each musician in the band.
